Ministry Assistant

(Part-Time)

Emmanuel Congregational Christian Church (ECCC) is a multi generational church located in Middleton, NS. We are committed to be a community who know Jesus intimately, who grow to be like Him, and who intentionally go in love and show His good news. We are currently searching for a part-time Ministry Assistant and are planning for a start date of June 18, 2019.


The Ministry Assistant will be involved in many aspects of the function and ministry of ECCC. As such, full membership of Emmanuel Church will be expected. The Ministry Assistant will act primarily to assist the pastor where asked, but will also have tasks that will require one to work with independence and integrity. The successful applicant must be adaptable to work multiple tasks and will also be involved in specific ministries in the church at different capacities as the job allows. This position is very important in the sense that the ministry assistant will often be the first contact for people contacting or entering the church.

Job Duties:
• Administrative work
     - Prepare weekly bulletins
     - Keep ‘mailbox lists’ up to date
     - Ensure picture directory is updated annually
     - Ensure bulletin boards are tidy and relevant
     - Prepare ‘pre-service’ pictures
     - Prepare Report Booklets for Congregational Meetings
     - Keep databases current

• Receptionist duties
     - Welcome visitors and help/direct them
     - Show church facilities to guests
     - Ensure tidiness of church-facilities
• Assist ministry leaders with recruiting volunteers
• Coordinating, promoting & organizing of events
• Updating website
• Updating social media sites
• Assisting the Pastor where required
• Assisting ministry leaders as directed
• If deemed a good fit, and time allows, may be asked to provide leadership to specific ministries


This job description may be modified by the pastor at any time after consultation with and agreement of the employee.


Requirements:
• Some Bible College education or experience in a church/ministry setting (paid or volunteer)
• Strong people skills
• Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
• Able to work with minimal supervision

• Excellent organizational skills
• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
• Able to work well under pressure

• Proven website design and an understanding of social media

• Physically able to set-up and take-down tables and chairs
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
• Must have clean Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector and Child Abuse Registry Check


Work Conditions:
• Part time 24 hours/week. Schedule to be worked out between the pastor and ministry assistant.
• Some evening and Saturday work will be required
• With much of the ministry taking place on Sundays, regular church attendance and involvement will be expected
• During the first three months of employment the successful candidate will be considered employed in a statutory probation period
