GRACE FOR MENTAL HEALTH

a group-based support ministry

Are you, or is someone you love, struggling with mental health?

Did you know...

...that 1 in 5 Canadians will personally experience a mental health problem or illness in any given year?

...that mental illness affects people of all ages, education, income levels and cultures?

...that approximately 8% of adults will experience major depression at some time in their lives?

Emmanuel Church wants to make a difference.  We have openly talked about mental illness during worship services and, starting in the spring of 2020, will launch a new group-based support ministry using the Mental Health Grace Alliance materials.  During the COVID-19 Pandemic groups will meet online using the Zoom platform.

The 'Living Grace' group is designed for people experiencing mental health challenges.  This group will meet weekly and discuss the material that participants have worked through in preparation.  The workbook includes 16 sessions, and each session is 'stand alone'.  This allows for new people to join at any time.

The 'Family Grace' group is designed for people who support those facing mental health challenges.  This group will be made available if there is interest and capacity.

Participation in the groups is free of charge.  We encourage each participant to cover the cost of the workbook (about $25).

Further, participation is open to any adult - you don't need to be a member of Emmanuel Church!  In fact, you don't even need to be a Christian in order to participate (Note: the material is written from a Christian perspective).

Requirements for joining are:

1) Ability to join the meetings using Zoom

2) Committed to the program.  We realize 'things come up', but regular attendance will drastically increase the effectiveness.

3) That your struggle with mental illness falls within the parameters that this program is able to address.  Note: when you express your interest in these groups, the group leaders will contact you to help you discern this.

Finally, please note that this ministry does not provide counseling, nor is intended to take the place of counseling.

Please complete this form to express your interest in either of these groups.
