Worship Service Sundays: 10:30 am

What on earth are we here for?

Does this life have purpose?

Do I have purpose?

These questions have been asked throughout the ages, and 18 years ago, Emmanuel Church tackled these questions 'head on'.

It was an incredible time.  Lives were touched.

Since then, many 'new people' have joined this community.  And, quite frankly, many of us have forgotten things learned in the past.  And so, during Lent 2020, we will go through the themes again...

Will you join this 40 day journey?

How does it work?

In short, there are 4 components to this church-wide journey:

1) A 'kick-off' event

2) Daily readings

3) Weekly small group gatherings

4) Sunday Services

The Kick-Off Event

All participants are invited to enjoy a meal at the church on Tuesday, February 25th, starting at 6 pm.  Since that day is, in some church traditions, refered to as 'shrove Tuesday' or 'pancake Tuesday', we plan on serving a pancake supper!

During this event we will give more information on both the historical significance of this day and season, and the '40 DAYS OF PURPOSE' journey!

Daily Readings

Much of the campaign is based on daily readings from The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren.  The book includes 40 of these readings, and each of them ends with a 'Question to Ponder'.

We highly  recommend that you write down any insights and answers to the questions in a notebook.  We also encourage you to pray about the things you are reading about.

Small Group Gatherings

The daily readings are supported by small group gatherings.

Each meeting will include:

* Time for social interaction

* A video with additional teaching on the themes covered

* Discussion of the material read in the previous week

* Time for questions

* Time to pray for each other

Small group options and other helpful resources for small group leaders can be found HERE

Sunday Services

Finally, the themes of our worship services and messages will be dedicated to the themes covered in this campaign.  During these services, we hope to hear from participants how this campaign is impacting them.  These 'testimonies' can be very personal and powerful.

Q. Do I have to be part of Emmanuel Church to participate?

A. No, this campaign is open to anyone who wants to learn!

Q. I would like to participate, but usually attend services at a different church.  What do I do?

A. Participate while continuing to attend your regular church.  All the  messages and testimonies will be posted on our website, so you won't miss a thing.

Q. I want to participate, but don't want to be part of a small group.  Can I still participate?

A. Well, yes...., but you'll miss out an essential component, as group participation will help you process the material.  And so, we strongly encourage you to participate in a group.

Q. Is there a cost for the meal?

A. No, there is no charge for the meal for those who are committed to participate in this campaign.

Q. What about the cost of the books?

A. We will do our best to find used books.  If you want to help offset the cost of these books, that is much appreciated, but not necessary.

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.
